Session Success Succession

We now have:

  • Session tracking and per-session caching.
  • The ability to render across the map boundaries.
  • Clicky bits to move around the map and zoom in and out.
  • Separate update of terrain and population.
  • Hopefully fixed the issues with accessing the data files while they are being updated.
  • Fixed the page so that it works on other stuff than IE.

It has been quickly checked by some kind people in #python and others and seems to all function and I am pleased with the weekend’s work. It is also a good way to round off the second month. As always, I know that I could have done it all in far less time, and anyone who knew what they were doing could have gotten to this point in a few days, but I think it’s going well. The bottom line is that it’s still an enjoyable project and while I have a definite goal, I’m happy with the idea that it could well take until the end of the year to have a first full version of what I want.

So, next up will be an amount of consolidation of progress and some steps towards a proper front-end with user login page and some persistent map interactions. After that, I need to put some actual AI in and see how that plays out in terms of performance. Those two areas should see me through the next month.
