Self-Inflicted Wounds
On a whim, I decided to grab the latest from the Django svn and try upgrading. For some reason that escapes me right now, I tried doing this without reading the notes on the wiki. Perhaps I thought I would learn more if I just rolled my sleeves up and dived in, but all I really learned was that not reading the change notes was not a good idea. Basically, I broke my app and wasted a couple of hours. Fortunately, I haven’t got a lot of data, so I’ll just rebuild the project from scratch and transfer the old code in, but I could have saved myself the effort.
So, the Django comment is: The update documentation is pretty thorough and useful. Don’t be an idiot like me — read it.
