Au Revoir, Vista
After a few months with the Vista Beta and RC2 I eventually had to switch back to XP after suffering too many incompatibilities with software (mostly games, it has to be said) that I wanted to run. When a friend recently told me that he had secured an upgrade copy for his laptop, my suggestion was that he put off installing it for a while and I’d stand by that. The OS itself is great, but poor support in the form of high-end video and audio drivers and the problems I’ve had with software that was only a year or two old mean that unless you are sure that you only want to use desktop apps and new ones at that, I’d wait until the end of the year for the whole thing to shake out a little.
